About the Course

"Understanding Your Numbers" is a foundational course designed to equip you with the financial knowledge and skills to manage your farm business effectively. This course begins with an introduction to the language of business, where you’ll explore essential tools like balance sheets and income statements, which are the foundation of financial reporting. You’ll gain the ability to decode these key documents, which are crucial in understanding your farm’s financial health and sustainability.

Moving forward, the course delves deeper into the three core financial statements—balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement—so you can confidently analyze and discuss your farm's financial status with business partners, family, and financial professionals.

Finally, you’ll learn how to calculate your cost of production (CoP), a vital metric for managing operational efficiency, reducing costs, and mitigating risk. By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped with the tools to make informed decisions and ensure your farm’s financial stability and growth.
